Animals are involved in businesses where they get treated horribly. The menace is enormous but, these days animal cruelty is taken seriously by a lot of people. For example, Circus Roncalli uses animal holograms instead of muffled souls. And now Cambodia has decided to ban Elephant rides at Angkor Wat in 2020.
The elephant rides at the temple attracts a lot of tourists, but it gets extremely strenuous for them which has even led to the death of an elephant in the year 2016.
The Angkor Elephant Group Committee said that they will send them to a conservation and breeding centre at the early stage of next year. The director of the committee told Metro, “In early 2020, our association plans to end the use of the elephants to transport tourists. They can still watch the elephants and take photos of them in our conservation and breeding centre. We want the elephants to live in as natural a manner as possible.”
The report even stated that the government is working on safeguarding the elephants in Cambodia for the upcoming generation with the help of relevant organizations as stated by Neth Pheaktra, a spokesperson of the Ministry of Environment.
How beautiful this world will be if each and every animal lives a life that they want to? Far away from all the torture and cruelty. Hope and actions taken can result in a peaceful environment for them and for that, all of us need to contribute. We are extremely happy that a group of 14 elephants in Cambodia will now live a much better life.
