Jimmy Donaldson, known to most as MrBeast on YouTube, has been busy with a project for a while now. He kicked off his #TeamSeas effort back in October 2021. The aim? To get $30 million and get rid of 30 million pounds of junk from the seas. They hit the $30 million mark by January 2022. Then, they kept at it to reach the 30 million pound of thrash goal over the next couple of years. Now just over two years later, they've crossed that off their list too. On July 16, MrBeast shared some big news: Team Seas had helped clean up 34,080,191 pounds of trash from oceans all over the world.
Who is He Known For?
MrBeast is super famous on the internet, to say the least. He's got more YouTube subscribers than anybody else as of June 2024. He's become well-known for handing out huge amounts of cash to random folks, and this has helped him gain over 302 million followers. He also helped start several different charity projects, including one called Team Seas.
MrBeast hopped onto YouTube in 2012 at just 13 years old. At first, he was like any other kid making videos. But in 2017, he did something weird - he counted to 100,000. Because the internet is strange, this super boring video blew up, and he started to get big. These days, his videos are crazy expensive and get millions of views every time. Now, MrBeast isn't just a guy - it's a whole company with almost 300 people. It's also got a bunch of other channels under it, like Beast Reacts, MrBeast Gaming, MrBeast 2, and Beast Philanthropy.

Besides Team Seas, MrBeast started MrBeast Burger and Feastables. He also helped create Team Trees, which has gotten $24 million for the Arbor Day Foundation since it began. Team Seas, which raises money for the Ocean Conservancy and The Ocean Cleanup, has collected about $30 million. "This wouldn't have happened without you guys coming together one donation at a time," MrBeast said in a Team Seas video. This isn't the first time MrBeast has done good things for the environment by using his huge following. Team Seas came after Team Trees, which reached its goal to plant 20 million trees back in 2020.
On July 16th, MrBeast put out a video saying they cleaned up all the trash, and the number of people who joined in was huge. People from more than 200 countries and places helped raise money, volunteer, spread the word, and make different types of online stuff like videos and games. All this got people to look at the TeamSeas website where they could give money and pick how many pounds of trash they wanted taken out of the oceans.

The Sole Purpose At Last ~
The biggest YouTuber on the planet has pulled off an amazing crowdfunding stunt. They got a bunch of top internet stars to help raise money and get people to volunteer to clean up the oceans. The cool thing is, that this shows the internet can be used to do good stuff; you just need to spread the word about it. It's like any other thing humans do - we can use it to make things better if we try.
