We have written about quite a lot of people who have been doing every possible thing for our environment. From planting trees to safeguarding the greenery, they are putting in immense effort to alter the scenario. But who knew an unmanned aerial vehicle will be used someday to do the same?
With an urge to work on the ecosystem of Myanmar’s Yangon, tree planting drones were used to plant mangrove saplings in September 2018. The drones were provided by BioCarbon Engineering, a company which gives planting solutions to big scale projects.
The organization has also collaborated with Worldview International Foundation and together they are working in Myanmar. They have planted more than 6 million trees along with the villagers and since planting with hands is difficult, aerial vehicles will be used to plant 4 million trees by the end of 2019. It has been said that 2 operators and 10 drones can plant 400,000 trees every day.
In a conversation regarding the initiative with Fast Company, the co-founder of BioCarbon Engineering, Irina Fedorenko said: “The project in Myanmar is all about community development and enabling people to care for trees, providing them with jobs, and making environmental restoration in a way that it’s profitable for people."
The evolution of aerial vehicles is developing with every passing day and we are grateful to companies like BioCarbon Engineering for making the most out of drones.
