Mumbai is famous for its skyscrapers and buildings all around. In novel initiative, an activist in the city is asking people to adopt trees, plant them and make Mumbai a greener city. Subhajit Mukherjee, an activist from Mumbai is motivating one and all to adopt the trees which are uprooted due to metro construction work going on in the city.
Mukherjee informed, “Last evening Mr. Worrel Gonsalves and Mr. Jatin Belani went to save the plants from Midh Chowki Signal, Malad West, Mumbai. Within 15 minutes, four Transgender who make their living Begging at the traffic Signal came to help us in digging the plants out from the dividers and also adopting few.”
Mukherjee believed that God has sent these angels from heaven who helped the trees to be adopted and gave them another life.
In first of its kind, the Transgender community in Link Road has joined the initiative and has adopted 200 plants to make Mumbai a Greener City.
“Our Initiative since last 15 days have saved around 5000 plants and have brought almost 1000 citizens together as a team to Save Trees in Mumbai,” informed Mukherjee.
In a recently organized environment meet in Malad, more than 200 environmentalists, social worker, MMRDA, BMC officials and social groups came together to work towards the greener Mumbai initiative.
‘Each One Teach One to Plant One’ is Adopt a Plant Initiative where all these 1000 Mumbaikars will visit societies and corporate to encourage individuals to participate and also help them with all the information and technical details about how can one adopts a tree and plant one.
Mukherjee said, “For Mumbai our mission is to encourage 50 Lakhs Mumbaikars to Adopt 1 Plant Each.
This is surely encouraging initiatives that will Mumbai one of the best cities to live in. Mumbai is no doubt famous for its spirit and liveliness. More greenery will help the citizens to go near nature.
