The Centurion University in Bhubaneshwar has organized skill training units for young girls who are high school dropouts and who are working as housemaids or construction workers.

About 50 young girls from Shiarchandi slum visited the units which enlightened them about good opportunities that will help them to lead a better life.

Thr trip was organized by Project Cheysta -an initiative for adolescent girls supported by the Australian High Commission to motivate girls to continue their education and making them aware of various skills and vocational training that they can avail of.

It was a day to cherish for the girls as they went around the university campus taking a tour of different skill centres, observing students in classrooms, visiting a sports centers, and library, exposing them to life after class ten.

They visited skill training units like tailoring, coffee-making, home nursing, dairy, beauty treatment, hospitality and carpentry and interacted with the students. They were inspired to complete their education.

The project is aimed to encourage adolescent girls to complete their education by providing them the requisite support in terms of remedial classes, coaching, skill training, life skill lessons, career coaching and more at a Resource Centre set up inside the slum premises.
