At a tender age, Umasri Pujyam recognized the urgent need to address the deteriorating state of water bodies in India. Determined to make a difference, this 15-year-old NRI girl has embarked on a mission to combat water pollution in the Godavari River. Hailing from the village of Ponnamanda in Razole, Ambedkar Konaseema district, Umasri, with the unwavering support of her family, has been working tirelessly to raise awareness and restore the river's once pristine glory.

Driven by her passion to combat water pollution, Umasri founded the organization "Youth Against Water Pollution" and initiated a campaign to address the water-related issues faced by the people of Konaseema. She kickstarted her efforts by collecting plastic waste from the Godavari River for a remarkable 100 consecutive days. Her dedication not only inspired the local panchayat staff but also instilled a sense of responsibility among the youth of the region.

Currently residing in Memphis, USA, with her parents, Umasri has taken a multi-faceted approach to tackle the devastating impacts of water pollution in the Godavari River. She has organized numerous river clean-up drives, raised public awareness about the water crisis, and advocated for comprehensive strategies to combat this pressing issue.

Umasri has spearheaded over a hundred clean-up drives and actively guided local residents on proper waste disposal and environmentally friendly practices.

Fueled by her passion for environmental engineering and technology, Umasri aspires to develop innovative sewage treatment solutions and advance environmental policies that prioritize access to clean water for all. Through her dedicated efforts, she aims to improve the health and livelihoods of communities, ultimately paving the way for a brighter future for the villagers of Godavari.
