It was a routine journey that suddenly turned into a race against time. On August 9, 2026, a fully loaded goods truck broke down in the middle of the railway tracks at the Makronia-Guda railway crossing in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh. The truck had been crossing the tracks when a technical fault, reportedly involving its battery supply line, left it stranded.

The danger escalated rapidly. With a train approaching and railway signals turning green, the possibility of a collision became frighteningly real. The truck driver was left helpless, but help was already nearby.

Jawans Spring Into Action

The Quick Response Team (QRT) of the 10th Battalion Special Armed Forces (SAF), Sagar, happened to be passing through the area while travelling to Damoh for law-and-order duty at the Bandakpur temple. The personnel immediately recognised the danger.

They stepped out of their vehicle, joined forces with local residents and began pushing the heavily loaded truck off the railway tracks. There was no time to wait for specialised assistance. Every second mattered. After an intense physical effort, the team managed to move the truck to safety in about five minutes.

Soon after, a train approached the crossing, underscoring just how narrow the window for intervention had been.

“You Were Lucky We Came This Way”

Video footage of the dramatic rescue, shared by the Madhya Pradesh Police, captures the tense moments as police personnel and residents struggle together to move the truck. The visibly shaken driver was reassured by the jawans after the danger had passed. He said that when God sends someone, He sends them like this. The jawans also advised him to exercise greater caution in the future.

Makronia police station in-charge Nitin Pal confirmed that the truck had stalled due to a technical problem at the Guda railway gate on the Bina-Katni route. He said the QRF personnel and police, assisted by locals, cleared the tracks in approximately five minutes.

Sagar Superintendent of Police Anurag Sujania praised the team's promptness, courage and teamwork. The episode offered a powerful reminder that public service can take many forms. Sometimes, protecting lives means acting before anyone has time to ask for help.

At Makronia-Guda, a handful of determined people did exactly that—and those five minutes prevented a major tragedy.
