In 2015, Mysuru Railway Station became the first railway station in India that was made including the needs of visually impaired. Features like tactile maps and train schedule in Braille helped them travel independently. Even the restaurants and canteens have menu cards in Braille.
This year, following the huge success of the Mysuru Railway Station, Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna KSR-city (Majestic) railway station became the second blind-friendly railway station in the country with the inauguration of Braille maps and platform indicators.
It is heartening to know that our railway stations are becoming inclusive and may there be many more such stations so that the visually impaired can travel with ease.
