Getting hold of an auto on a busy day seems like a hassle for all those who rely on public transport. Some autowalas deny to turn their meters on while some charge double the fair during peak hours and complaining about the same has become quite normal for most of us. But, Ahmedabad’s Uday Jadav popularly known as Uday Bhai is making his passengers smile and garnering their praises.
Uday Bhai’s initiative ‘Ahmedabad No Rickshawalo’ was commenced back in 2010 with the objective, gift economy in mind. He introduced the concept, ‘Pay From Your Heart’ which means once the ride comes to an end, the passenger is allowed to pay whatever he feels like and that amount will be used for the following passenger’s fair. Hence, every time his meter reads zero.
From magazines to snacks to water, Uday Bhai has kept everything in his auto for the convenience of his passengers. He has also put a dustbin to avoid littering the roads. Every initiative faces difficulties at the beginning, similarly, Uday Bhai also went through ups and downs but, today he gets recognized for the commendable work that he is doing and also receives a huge amount of support from his family.
With the motive of serving the society, Uday Bhai is doing his utmost each day to make people happy. We hope his work inspires several others to come forward and do something similar.
