It's Navratri time and there is good news for Vaishnodevi pilgrims as Railways have begun operations of the second Vande Bharat Express train which will ply New Delhi and Katra in Jammu and Kashmir during the Navratri festival.
Speaking to Asian News International (ANI), the Chairman of the Railway Board, Vinod Kumar Yadav said that the Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Express would be a gift to the pilgrims who visit Vaishno Devi and it will begin plying from Navratras. The Railways are trying to upgrade their busy routes. He further said that Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah will be ready by December 2021.
Vande Bharat Express
This is the second Vande Bharat Express launched in India. According to Yadav, the Indian railways would have 40 Vande Bharat Express trains plying on its network across the nation by 2022. Out of the 40 trains, 15 trains will be launched next year while the remaining 25 will be launched in 2021. The new Vande Bharat train will be fitted with sleeper coaches which is not present in the existing Vande Bharat train also called train 18.
Apart from the plush interiors, the Delhi - Katra Vande Bharat Express is equipped with wi-fi, bio vacuum toilets, GPS based infotainment system, CCTV surveillance among other features. It also has plastic bottle crusher machines, a spacious pantry with ROs, one deep freezer for storing ice cream and welcome drinks as well as three hot cases and two bottle coolers.
It is a matter of pride for India that all the 40 Vande Bharat Express trains, slated to be rolled out by 2022, will be built totally under the 'Make in India' programme.
