15 year old Sikanto Mandal from Jai Gurudev Sanstha School, Mathura is the creative mind behind the Garbage Collecting Device.
Jai Gurudev Sanstha School is a school which provides subsidised education to the underprivileged students. To keep the campus, students clean the surroundings every day.
Sikanto Mandal came up with an idea to build a mobile device for collecting garbage. After sharing this concept with his teachers, Mandal applied for the Inspire Awards after which he received an amount of Rs.5000 to build the app.
After a lot of trial and errors, Sikanto's app was built and is said to be completely natural. According to Sikanto, the app is said to have a picker that aids in collecting garbage without touching it, and a gripper with a handle which helps in the dumping of the garbage easily without having to completely topple the cart.
The app is said to have special features, including customised spaces in the cart where people collecting garbage can keep the broom, a water bottle and other waste materials they might pick on their way making it easier for the municipal workers who collect waste from parks and other places.
