Matt Rispoli was camping with his wife and two kids in Banff National Park in Canada. They were sleeping in the tent when to their horror, they were awakened to the sight of a wolf ripping off their tent. The big wolf then charged towards Matt who laid his body on his wife and kids to protect them.
The huge wolf then started to drag Matt away ripping at his arms. Matt’s wife Elisa tried to hold his legs and screamed desperately for help. Russ Fee, a camper from a nearby campsite came rushing on hearing their screams. Without thinking about himself, he instinctively darted towards the wolf and started kicking it forcefully.
The wolf got startled enough to let go Matt, but it wouldn’t go away. Matt and Russ then started shouting and throwing rocks at the wolf. Meanwhile, Elisa ran with her kids towards their car for cover. Finally, the wolf had to retreat.
Elisa was extremely grateful to Russ for, in all likelihood, saving Matt’s life. She wrote about the incident on Facebook in which she called Russ their guardian angel. Matt was hospitalized for his wounds. The next morning, the staff of Parks Canada located the wolf and euthanized it.
It is very heartening to know about people like Russ who didn’t bother about himself or his family and rushed to help Matt and his family who were in despair. Such good samaritans reaffirm our faith in the goodness of humanity.
