Being joyous throughout is what all of us look forward to but, life is not always about contentment. Sometimes it hits us with a harsh reality while sometimes it makes us feel like giving up. But with an optimistic nature, everything can be conquered and dealing with difficult times will become easier. That’s what 16-year-old Anna Day is teaching us.
Anna was left in dejection in 2012 when she came to know that her sister, Isabella was diagnosed with cancer. It wasn’t easy for a child who was just in third grade to digest the news but, she grew out of it and is doing something phenomenal today.
When Anna saw her sister going through the treatments, she came to terms with the fact that there is a lack of funding for pediatric cancer. She wanted to do something about the sad fact and after mulling on it, she started hosting bake sales from 2015 for childhood cancer research. And every year the money collected escalated. Then finally in 2018, she came up with Anna’s Bake Sale Foundation.
The 501c3 non-profit was formed to raise awareness and funds regarding childhood cancer research. Since 2015 Anna has raised $40,000 which is absolutely remarkable.
A huge difference can be made by each one of us if we stay positive. In an interview with NBC 5, Anna said: “We always say in my family that we have two choices. We can either sulk around and be really upset about what’s happening, or we can turn it into something good and be able to give back.”
Anna’s exceptional move tells us how thoughtful she is. The little one has done something beyond her age and we at My Indian Dream are extremely proud of her for taking a step in order to bring progress in childhood cancer research
