Walter Orthmann, a 100-year-old Brazilian, has entered the Guinness World Record book for working at the same company for over eight decades. It is his love for work that has kept him associated with his company for 84 years. Orthmann began his career at the textile company Industrias Renaux SA (now called ReneauxView) in Santa Catarina, Brazil. He has been working there since then with discipline and commitment.
Orthmann started as a shipping assistant at ReneauxView at the age of 15. Financial problems at home induced him to fetch a job so early on in his life. He got hired by the company due to his proficiency in German.
Although Orthmann started as a shipping assistant, he ended up doing much more due to his skills and willingness to learn. He was soon given a promotion to a sales role and went on to succeed as a sales manager. The centenarian, who witnessed many changes in the company as well as the larger business world, states that the ability to change with the times is the only quality that can help one succeed in this world.
This inspiring centenarian maintains a peaceful lifestyle and works out daily. He is therefore sufficiently energized to go to work every day. This year, on April 19, Orthmann enjoyed an unforgettable birthday party on his 100th birthday with his coworkers, friends, and family.
